BIO
With their unique sound – a fusion of musical genres, all of which rock – Within Reason first started making a name for themselves in 2005. Six months after releasing their first demo, the band was chosen in a worldwide fan vote that culminated with the opportunity to perform for millions on the popular TV show One Tree Hill. The release of their first full length record "Bloodshot Life", recorded by multi-platinum producer Rick Beato (Shinedown), took the band out on the road with major acts including, Bret Michaels, Buckcherry, Halestorm, P.O.D., amongst several others.
With songs featured in both film and videogames, fans from around the world began following the band. Within Reason’s latest record, "After the Crawl," recorded by GRAMMY® nominated Nick Chahwala, was released in March 2012. The new EP led to Within Reason joining the massive Rockstar UPROAR festival that toured the country with acts including Godsmack, Shinedown, Staind and more. In early 2013 the band again prevailed in a worldwide fan vote competition, beating out nearly 2,000 bands with over 1.5M votes cast, and were afforded 2 weeks in LA for GRAMMY® festivities, a showcase at the Clive Davis Theater in the GRAMMY® Museum, experienced the Red Carpet on GRAMMY® Night and were interviewed by countless media outlets, including making the front page of the Business section of the LA Times.
The band has since been featured on the front page of the Last.fm website, which is the world’s largest online music catalog, been the focus of a Microsoft Surface nationwide Ad campaign, filmed their first major music video for ‘We’ll Have it All,’ eclipsed 200,000 paid downloads, and is currently entertaining tour opportunities while planning a nationwide radio campaign by year’s end.

Grammy LIVE Gig of a Lifetime Within Reason Wins GRAMMY Live: The Gig of a Lifetime Contest
January 29th, 2013 Birmingham-based rock band Within Reason has won CBS’ “GRAMMY® Live: The Gig of a Lifetime” contest, presented by Microsoft Surface. More than 1.5 million votes were cast -- double the number of votes for last year's contest – and nearly 1,500 bands submitted for a chance to perform during GRAMMY Live, three days of live multi-platform coverage and events leading up to Music's Biggest Night®.
As the winner, Within Reason will be flown out to Los Angeles to take part in GRAMMY Live culminating in a performance in front of a live audience and webcast to music fans online and on mobile devices. Within Reason’s GRAMMY Live performance will take place on Saturday, February 9, at 7pm PT/10 pm ET. Fans can watch the performance online on GRAMMY.com and CBS.com, or by downloading the free GRAMMY Live mobile apps*. In addition to the performance, the band will take home Microsoft Surface tablets, and have the opportunity to take part in a Microsoft TV commercial.
Voting began on Jan. 10th and went through two rounds. First, the nominated bands competed by region; then the regional finalists competed in the final round.
